Business Advisory Board Pursues Goals
No longer content to sit back and passively wait and hope for donations, the ACO is determined to put itself on steady financial ground.
Recent years at the College have been characterized by expansion as the organization grows internally and, at the same time, reaches out to the public in bold new ways. While the work of the College is generating much excitement, money raised through fundraising has not been sufficient to allow the ACO to keep step with its widening role.
Recognizing this, the ACO established a business advisory board whose mission is to put the College on firm financial footing in the long and short term. One of the first goals of the board was to establish two paid positions: a director of development and a business manager. The college solicited resumes, conducted interviews and brought on board two very talented individuals to fill these positions.
The business manager and director of development will, among their other responsibilities, pursue a new avenue of funding for the College: grant money. The first step, will be to identify individuals and foundations whose missions match some of the aspects of what the College is doing. Then relationships will be pursued and grant proposals submitted.
The board is also working to identify potential products, inspired by orgonomic science, that might have value. The idea is to interest investors in producing and marketing these products. They are also putting together business plans to create corporations and limited liability companies that will create opportunities to help fund the College for the future.
