Film Nears Completion
"Room for Happiness," a documentary film about medical orgone therapy, is now in the final stages of production. The film is being produced by award-winning filmmaker Dick Young. It tells the stories of eight individuals who are undergoing medical orgone therapy, a unique method of psychotherapy pioneered by Wilhelm Reich, M.D.
ACO Board of Regents member Richard Schwartzman, D.O. has been serving as technical advisor to Mr. Young. Dr. Schwartzman says he hopes the film will get people interested in having therapy. "It came to us in a meeting that we could think of very few people who had done anything in or for orgonomy unless they had personally experienced medical orgone therapy. To everyone who has not had the experience, the ideas of orgonomy remain just an interesting theoretical concept without any emotional bite."
"Room for Happiness" is suitable for many audiences, from college students to the psychiatric community. "We want to present to the public at large and to mental health professionals a very effective form of non-drug therapy in a world that is increasingly emphasizing a medication-based approach to treatment," Dr. Schwartzman says.
